Rafferty's Chicks

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Rafferty  was excited today Sunni and Tula were coming to the farmyard to see the new chicks.

Mrs Hen was clucking over her babies and making sure they looked their very best – there wasn’t a feather out of place when she finished getting the ready to meet Rafferty’s friends.

Sunni was excited he had some special seeds to feed to the chicks from some of the plants he grew in his garden and he knew they would love them as much as children love chocolate! He was looking forward to their excitement as they tried them for the first time. Sunni liked to give treats as much as he liked to receive them.

Tula met Sunni in the park and they went to the farmyard together.

The chicks were very excited and played with Tula one of them even stood on her head!

Sunni spread his special seeds on the ground for the chicks and they pecked them up and clucked excitedly.

It was so much fun to give thought Sunni as he and Tula said goodbye to Rafferty and the chicks as they headed off home.

Rafferty does Yoga at the Beach

Friday, May 22, 2009

Rafferty found everyone at the beach. They were all doing yoga poses and as he said hello he walked down to the waters edge and felt the cool foamy water on his feet.

"Hello guys!" said Rafferty. "have you tested the water yet?" he asked.

"Not yet" giggled Mali and she skittered over to Rafferty and dropped the tip of her tail into the bright blue water. "oohhhh - that's great" she said as she jumped into the water making a great big splash!

The splash went all over Sunni and Tula, so Tula jumped in too while Sunni was content to stand with Rafferty with his feet in the cooling water.

"Having Fun? asked Mr Sun to no one in particular.

"Yes we are thank you Mr Sun" replied Rafferty. "It was a great idea to come here - thank you for telling us all about it".

"Have you every done yoga with your feet in the water Sunni?" asked Rafferty.

"No I haven't, but I bet Tula has!" replied SUnni.

"Try this" said Rafferty and he showed Sunni how to do the Half Moon pose. Balancing on his right leg and wing with straight legs Rafferty lifted his other leg out behind him and stretched forward with his left wing.  Rafferty had his foot firmly on the sand and worked hard to keep his balance.

"I can do that too" said Sunni as he copied the pose. Sunni wobbled a bit at first but after a few attempts he was very good at it.

The Epona Yoga poses are detailed in the Epona Yoga Adventures of Sunni, Tula, Mali and Rafferty book with complete instructions and the benefits of each pose.  Each pose is illustrated on teh Epona Yoga mat for easy reference. You can buy the mat, book and DVD online.

A trip to the seaside...

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

" Hello Rafferty" said Mr Sun. "I just spoke to Sunni and he is going down to see Tula at the seaside - can you go there too?"

Rafferty jumped up and stretched. "That sounds like a fun day out Mr Sun, I think I shall join them after I stretch a bit more".

Rafferty likes to stretch and fluff out all his feathers so he stood very still with his feet wide apart, bent his left knee and put his left wing tip on the ground next to his foot, and then he reached up towards Mr Sun with his right wing. "Ahh that's better" said Rafferty "I always feel better after I stretch like that! It's called the Standing Spine Twist Mr Sun".

"It looks like a good stretch Rafferty" replied Mr Sun.

"oh it is! but I'd better go or I'll miss everyone" said Rafferty and off he went through the farmyard towards the park on his way to see Tula at the beach.
